Project Environment:
The Ephorate of Antiquities of the City of Athens implemented the project “TH-INK: Graffiti as Historical Testimony and as Decay on Ancient Monuments” as part of initiatives aimed at educating and raising public awareness—especially among students—about the protection of cultural heritage.
The program explores the dual nature of graffiti—as both historical evidence and a form of degradation—and employs educational tools to encourage critical thinking about the relationship of contemporary societies with monuments.
KATAKORYFO SMPC supported the project through the production of high-quality educational and digital materials, contributing to the dissemination of the program and raising public awareness about the protection of Athens’ antiquities.
Project Scope:
KATAKORYFO SMPC undertook the comprehensive production of the printed and digital educational materials, as well as the creation of the official website for the “TH-INK: Graffiti as Historical Testimony and as Decay on Ancient Monuments” program.
The project was designed to combine an educational dimension with an audiovisual experience, enhancing student engagement through creative and interactive methods.
Specifically, the scope included:
-
Content study and collaboration with the scientific team of the Ephorate to adapt the material for different student age groups.
-
Design and production of seven (7) main educational booklets and accompanying thematic materials (cards, maps, activities, games, creative writing booklets, theatrical dialogues, posters, etc.).
-
Graphic design, illustration, and layout of all deliverables, with modern aesthetics and a unified visual identity consistent with the TH-INK program branding.
-
Management of printing and production of high-quality printed editions, using durable materials suitable for school and educational use.
-
Accessibility assurance for people with disabilities, including production of Braille editions and accessible navigation tools.
-
Design, development, and implementation of the program website, functioning as an educational platform to host and disseminate the materials, with user-friendly navigation and opportunities for interactive participation by students and educators.
-
Support and content adaptation for field activities at archaeological sites such as the Ancient Agora, Kerameikos, and the Hills of the Muses, Nymphs, and Pnyx, where the Ephorate conducts educational programs.
The project was implemented using modern digital design and educational technology methods, ensuring high aesthetic quality, functionality, and accessibility for all users.
Upon completion, KATAKORYFO M.IKE made a decisive contribution to creating an original, innovative, and scientifically grounded educational tool, enhancing knowledge and awareness regarding the protection of Athens’ ancient monuments.
