Project Environment:
The Region of Attica commissioned KATAKORYFO SMPC to add sign language interpretation to the four thematic TV videos previously produced for public awareness regarding preparedness and protection against forest fires, floods, earthquakes, and technological accidents.
This initiative is part of the Region's efforts to enhance accessibility and social inclusion, ensuring that prevention and self-protection messages are understandable and accessible to all citizens, including people with hearing impairments.
The project’s objective was to integrate sign language interpretation in a way that would not compromise the aesthetics or the communicative impact of the existing TV messages, while maintaining high quality and clarity of the content.
Project Scope:
KATAKORYFO SMPC undertook the review of the four TV spots and adapted them to include sign language interpretation.
The work included the design and synchronization of the interpretation with the existing audiovisual material, selecting the optimal placement of the interpreter within each video to maintain visual coherence and message readability, as well as image editing and final post-production. The post-production process involved color correction, image composition, integration of the interpretation, and final export of the videos in all required formats (Full HD, PAL, MP4 H.264) for television and online use. Implementation was carried out using professional equipment and digital editing techniques, ensuring absolute accuracy, technical quality, and aesthetic consistency with the original videos.
The project was successfully completed, producing four informative TV messages fully accessible to people with hearing impairments, without compromising audiovisual quality or the dynamic presentation of the messages.
The integration of sign language interpretation significantly enhanced accessibility, social inclusion, and public awareness, contributing to the full utilization of the Region of Attica’s TV spots as tools for prevention and self-protection. KATAKORYFO SMPC thus played a key role in presenting a civil protection project with social impact and high audiovisual production standards.
