Project Description

Project Environment:

The Region of Epirus implemented the project “WASTE RREACT” within the framework of the Interreg Greece–Albania 2014–2020 Cross-Border Cooperation Program, aiming to promote the circular economy, reduce waste, and strengthen sustainable waste management practices at a cross-border level.

The project focused on developing tools, actions, and strategies to raise environmental awareness among citizens, businesses, and local authorities, as well as on disseminating good practices in recycling and reuse.

Within this framework, the Region of Epirus commissioned KATAKORYFO SMPC to implement comprehensive communication, publicity, and promotion activities for the project, aiming to inform and actively engage the public in the WASTE RREACT initiatives.

Project Scope:

KATAKORYFO SMPC was responsible for the full implementation of the work package related to communication, publicity, and promotion of the WASTE RREACT project, in accordance with the requirements and specifications of the Interreg Greece–Albania 2014–2020 Program.

The initiative was designed to enhance the public visibility of the project, highlight its innovative practices and results, and encourage the participation of citizens and stakeholders in adopting circular economy policies.

Specifically, the scope included:

  • Development of a communication strategy and project identity, defining objectives, target audience, thematic pillars, and key messages. The strategy ensured consistency across all communication channels and compliance with Interreg publicity guidelines.

  • Design of visual identity, including logo creation, color palette, layout templates, and graphic applications for both digital and print media. The aesthetic approach reflected recycling and reuse, with natural tones and a clean, contemporary graphic style.

  • Design, development, and hosting of the official project website, serving as the main tool for information dissemination. The website was fully bilingual (Greek–English), accessible to people with disabilities (WCAG 2.1 compliant), and included interactive elements such as an activity map, information calendar, and multimedia section.

  • Production of print and digital communication materials, such as:

    • Informational brochures and leaflets

    • Posters and thematic banners

    • PowerPoint presentations and document templates

    • Press releases and public information bulletins

    • Branded merchandise (bags, notebooks, eco-friendly pens, etc.)

All deliverables were produced using eco-friendly materials, aligned with sustainable production principles, and incorporated the program’s unified branding.

  • Production of audiovisual materials, including:

    • An informational video presenting project activities

    • Short promotional spots for social media

    • Event and field activity photography

    • Partner and participant interviews to disseminate good practices

Production was carried out with professional equipment (cinema cameras, drones, gimbals, 4K editing), ensuring high aesthetic and technical quality.

  • Organization and support of publicity actions, such as:

    • The project’s opening press conference and final event

    • Thematic workshops to inform and raise awareness among the public and stakeholders

    • Promotion of the project through local media and digital platforms

  • Management of social media communication, including content creation, development of a consistent communication line, and continuous performance monitoring to maximize local and cross-border outreach.

KATAKORYFO SMPC ensured overall supervision, coordination, and timely delivery of all deliverables, applying project management practices and ensuring compliance with Interreg rules.

The project was successfully completed, producing a comprehensive set of communication actions that highlighted the importance of the circular economy and cross-border cooperation, contributing to environmental awareness and the promotion of sustainable development in Epirus and Southern Albania.
