Project Description

Project Environment:

The Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Gastronomy, implements initiatives that promote gastronomy as a driver of culture, education, and sustainable urban development. Within this framework, KATAKORYFO SMPC was entrusted with the organization of the gastronomic event "Yangin Var", aimed at showcasing Thessaloniki's gastronomic identity, promoting local food production, and strengthening the city's cultural outreach.

The event draws its inspiration from the historical expression "Yangin Var", linking Thessaloniki's collective memory with contemporary culinary creativity. Through the participation of renowned chefs, presentations of local products, food tastings, and cultural activities, the event highlighted the Mediterranean diet, regional food production, and creative culinary expression, offering visitors a comprehensive cultural and gastronomic experience.

Project Scope:

KATAKORYFO SMPC was responsible for the comprehensive planning, scheduling, coordination, and production of the gastronomic event, ensuring its thorough preparation and successful delivery in accordance with the project's technical specifications.

The scope of the project included:

  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating all individual aspects of the event.
  • Organizing and managing the overall production of the gastronomic initiative.
  • Collaborating with and coordinating six professional chefs who presented culinary creations inspired by local cuisine and regional products.
  • Renting, installing, and providing technical support for all required culinary equipment and logistical infrastructure, including venue setup, configuration, and restoration following the completion of the event.
  • Ensuring the quality of all services provided, as well as full compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards throughout the event.

Upon the successful completion of the project, KATAKORYFO SMPC contributed to the delivery of a high-quality gastronomic event that showcased Thessaloniki's cultural and culinary identity, strengthened the connection between local food production and creative gastronomy, and advanced the objectives of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Gastronomy by offering the public a contemporary and immersive cultural and gastronomic experience.
